Vinted Users Voice Displeasure About Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
