19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also means he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional championship, took control to force a third set.

He rescued four early-game chances in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
